Hit? or Miss?

I’m trying to figure out how to get that annoying black overlay on the text and links in the sidebar. If this was a week ago, I would have started up my AArdvark Firefox Addon and find the class and fix it. Unfortunately, I upgraded to Firefox 3.5 version yesterday and this is one of those Addons that has yet to be upgraded.

As soon as it is upgraded, I will fix this – however, as you probably would have guessed .. I usually tend to tweak things all the time and might figure it out on my own before that time!

I have installed Lucia’s Linky Love plugin .. which turns on all the author links on comments to “dofollow”, after 3 comments.

I will be experimenting with the settings and how it affects my spam control, but currently .. I have disabled links IN the comments to remain a NoFollow. Comment and get some juice! Spam me with links and you get nothing…

Schedule Downtime Maintenance has been complete .. and we’re still here~

That’s good news.

HART

My host provider has been reminding me this week that there is a planned outage of part of certain accounts including my Dedicated Service Hosting Plan.

At about 1:00am Saturday Morning December 8, 2007 (which is about 50minutes from now) 100% of all the sites of the HART-Empire Network will be unavailable while routine maintenance is performed.

My sites should be down at least an hour – and, if it’s more .. it’s not my fault! They suggested that all it will take is 45 minutes, but give it an hour just in case!

I am in the process of consolidation of the HART-Empire Network, to coincide with my 2nd year anniversary as a network of blogs and sites around October 17th ..

Basically, I am relocating separate blogs on separate domains to separate subdomains of a single domain.

PS> I figured out that my server was crashing every morning at 3am due to some hefty cron jobs and automated wordpress backups being scheduled to happen around that time, and was creating problems. I have spread these cron jobs apart this morning, and will be adding another 1GB RAM memory to the dedicated server to help keep things be healthy.

That’s the “Good News”.

I wouldn’t say that there is “Bad News” .. but, it sure is taking a long time to migrate all the accounts. While I can confirm that all the accounts have been moved from my ISP#1 and ISP#2 over to my new ISP#3 … not all of them are active. Generally, I’m doing it in my spare time and making sure things work. I’m also upgrading each site to wordpress version 2.2 (using the InstantUpgrade plugin) and upgrading a few plugins to the latest version.

I’m also documenting what I am doing, and will create some sort of series of posts in this blog .. The experience, tips and learning curves that I have been faced with is valuable information i.m.o. and worth passing along to other people with growing pains, and doesn’t necessary have an arsenal of venture capital or support staff backing you!
